Homewood is located on the west side of Lake Tahoe in California. You can get to Homewood from Interstate 80 by turning south on to Hwy 89 from the Truckee area. From Truckee Homewood is less than 15 miles and just south of Tahoe City. If you are traveling from South Lake Tahoe be advised in the winter Hwy 89 often closes just north of South Lake Tahoe.

This unincorporated area is home the the world famous Homewood Ski Resort. One of the hidden jewels of Lake Tahoe, Homewood Ski Resort has numerous ski runs that face the lake which provides for some of the best scenic skiing around. Locals often enjoy the special rates Homewood Ski Resort offers on Tuesdays.

The real estate in the Homewood area ranges from 1 bedroom cabins to huge mountain estate with gorgeous lake views. It's not uncommon to find property in the million dollar plus range. You will also find two surrounding communities, Tahoe Pines to the north and the Chambers lodge area to the south.

• In 1961 a rope tow was set up by Ron Rupp on what would become Homewood Mountain Resort.
• In 1973 Godfather Part II scenes filmed at Fleur Du Lac Estate.
• In 1987 Homewood Ski Area bought Tahoe Ski bowl to the south and combined the areas and is now know as Homewood Mountain Resort.
