

Lake Tahoe was first discovered by explorer John C. Fremont in 1844 and through the years the lake was know by numerous names before1945 when the California State Legislature finally named it Tahoe, an Indian name meaning "big water".
Today you will find gaming, casinos, boating, snowmobiling, hiking ski resorts and plenty of the much sought after lake view real estate. No matter which part of South Lake Tahoe you live in many homes have views of the lake or the beautiful forest that encompasses the area. South Lake Tahoe is the only incorporated community in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
